[Editorial] [agriculture]
An ongoing work in collaboration with my dear friend Melissa Dima.
Melissa is a 23 years old chef and in 2023 she decided to buy a Peugeot Boxer and and move out of Paris to go and meet the people that produce our food. After travelling around Europe for about 2 years, from farm to farm, her journey has finaly come to end. Along the trip, she’s been collecting images, stories, stickers, sticks, plants (carried through fermentation processes). All these materials and Melissa’s personnal reflections create a rich and beautiful story about traditional agriculture, offering a critical perspective on today’s agricultural system and its very limits.
I’ve been following Melissa closely along her journey, often exchanging by video call or text messaging. A year ago, she first mentioned her ambition of making a journal about her trip, but only for herself as a souvenir.
This project has now turned into a critical essay, a photo album, a journal, a recipe book and much more. This book is not anymore only for herslef but for all of us. It is a beautiful invitation to slown down, to appreciate time, the seasons, life and the people that still work the land as it should be.
